Jim Turner A.K.A. @genuine – Wordcamp Miami

by Blanca Stella on February 20, 2010

I was happy to meet one of the presenters at Wordcamp Miami,  Jim Turner  in person.  His topic was titled “From Daddy Blogger to Business Blogger.” Although I unfortunately missed the beginning of his talk, one of the main points  he emphasized was about engaging with people on blogs, making comments and in his words, casting a net.
There are so many people providing enormous amounts of  tips and tools that take a lot of time to put together.  Social Media is not only about connecting, but providing value and resources to help others. Why not take some time after reading a post and make a comment and genuinely thank those people. Jim’s twitter profile is @genuine and one of the reasons he has become successful in blogging is because the net he cast has always been full of great value.

A group of technology and social media professionals attended Crisis Camp Miami last Saturday. Here is the local Facebook Fan Page for additional resources.

It is part of a Nationwide Crisis Camp that assists in disseminating information via technology and social media during times of Crisis. And with the devastation in Haiti, many are reaching out to support this cause in many cities around the world.
