Today I was going to skip the 30 Day Social Media Blog Challenge #smcsfblog. I have so many things to do, yet when I do sit and take a few minutes and blog, I know I love it and am happy.  I have been blogging for five years and even though it has not been consistent because I work full time as a Social Media Consultant and Community Manager, my passion is what propels me to sit and write.

What I find with most clients I consult with who are beginning in social media and the blogging component that comes with it (if they choose to add that to the mix),  just freeze and don’t do anything. They listen to the suggestions, but do not implement mainly because of lack of time or resources to hire someone to do it for them.  I usually tell people that they have to dive in and make that commitment at least in the first year to get in a flow.

Everything happens over time. People have to be patient. There are a ton of tools out there to simplify the process of distributing your content, but automation alone will not make it happen. You have to be original with your own voice and that takes time to sit and write something interesting or original.

Yesterday, I was just going to curate that post about Teens and Facebook, and write a short paragraph about it. But I decided to take the time to interview my niece, so that gave it some extra flair….but it took extra time. I am glad I did it because that post got some retweets, comments and conversation going on my Google Plus profile by none other than Joe Martinez, the king of G +. He is one cool, and super nice guy. I am a small business owner like many people out there. We get overwhelmed easily with the pile of stuff to do. I have learned to let go and take it easy because burning out will just lead to giving up. So take it easy when you get overwhelmed. The world will not end if you do not do a post, tweet or Facebook share.  Enjoy and have fun in the process.

The picture that I share in this post was taken by me the other day at the Destino event by AARP. I like the words on it:
- From dead ended to uplifted
-Take a flying leap
-Connecting
-Living and Giving
-The Good Life

I can honestly say that if I didn’t start blogging five years ago and decided to take the leap, my life would have been extremely different. I am so happy I did. I reinvented my life and so can anyone. Just do it and never look back! This took about 10-12 minutes to do, plus sharing it on some Social Media places. I just wrote from my corazon….that is when it flows. icon wink Time Challenges In This Digital World

Update: It took about 5 minutes more because I edited it to make sure I didn’t have any typos and got the embed code of Joe’s share on G+.
